Zoom Japon, 50人

It’s been a veeery long time since I have not written anything here.

I have been collaborating with ZOOM Japon magazine from its first issue in 2010 and we kind of grew up together. In 2012, ZOOM Japan (UK) was born and I took part in ZOOM’s “Le Japon vu du train” guidebook.

ZOOM Japon is not an another magazine about anime, fake geisha girls and geek stuff. This free paper is a space of liberty for the journalists I work with and myself, a magazine written by people who know Japan very well and want to share “their” Japan, unlike many journalists who come to Japan for a few days with preconceived ideas.

I have been working for 3 months on one of the most ambitious projects ZOOM has ever done: portraying 50 people building tomorrow’s Japan.

I shot 30 of the 50 portraits, mostly in Tokyo but also in Takeo Onsen (Kyushu), Kyoto and Utsunomiya. From a swimmer to a calligrapher, including a 2.0 politician and an organic farmer, it’s been a splendid journey in Japan. Here is the result:
